## About the role

Develop autonomous agents for solving different information extraction problems

Compensation
We’re building an all-star team and so want to be generous on compensation. Our philosophy is that base compensation is for living expenses and equity is for upside. So our compensation structure is a base salary competitive with other seed stage startups and generous equity relative to other startups. We know that part of the excitement of joining a startup is the upside and to feel like an owner - that’s why we left our corporate jobs.
Funding
We're cash flow positive, have never churned a customer, and are hiring to meet increased demand. We aren't beholden to any VCs, so we have more equity to give than if we'd already been diluted and can control the company direction. Worst case, we can always raise money if needed because we have a working model and are cash flow positive (we’ve already received investment offers). We help dentists get paid for the work they do. In this $165B market, our product simplifies the complex process of verifying insurance coverage, submitting claims, appealing denials, billing patients, and maintaining clean books. As a result of how complex this process is and how many things get lost in the process, dentists can lose 10-20% of their revenue!

What this leads to is the things patients hate about the American healthcare system: it’s **inefficient, unaffordable, and just too d*mn confusing**. We work with a lot of dentists and they don’t love it either. Dentists want to treat you, help you, and see you smile.

We are looking for a founding full-stack engineer to work alongside our co-founder and CTO. Responsibilities include:

Our stack is primarily React, Next.js and Javascript/Typescript. And we’re updating parts of the back-end to Python. You should have familiarity with building + improving a high-quality well-designed web app in production.

In this role, you’ll:

Improve Unriddle by shipping product features, fixing bugs and removing technical debt.
Move fast but polish things -- we deeply care about good design but we don’t let this slow us down.
Develop strong opinions, be able to communicate them and turn them into features.
Build internal tools to automate non-product work. We do this a lot.
As a founding member of the team, you'll make a significant impact as we rapidly scale revenue from $1M to $10M and then $10M to $100M+.

You’re likely a good fit if you:

Have independently built and scaled a product to at least a few thousand users (e.g. a side project or open-source project).
Have worked in a high-growth, fast-paced environment (ideally another startup) and can drive things forward with relatively little oversight.

Familiarity with AI and ML concepts, especially in the context of natural language processing and generative AI models.

HOW YOU’LL HAVE IMPACT
Full Stack: Take ownership of product features and drive implementation across the components of our software stack.

AI First: Adapt the latest AI models (language and speech) and techniques to our use case. You can contribute to any of: model training, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and optimizing inference for latency and cost.

Empowered Teams: Collaborate with team members in a fully remote work environment (work hours are flexible but most of the team is on the west coast). Our teams are autonomous and cross-functional, including Product Management and UX Design.

Data-driven: Design experiments to validate product changes and ensure the highest quality of our software.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
A history of consistent top performance and a desire for a mission-driven work culture.

5+ years of experience in full-time, post-graduation Software Engineering.

Prior experience with evaluations of ML or LLM-based product features, prompt engineering, agent-based approaches, and fine-tuning.

Familiarity with using AI for development (e.g. Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor).

Desire to work across the stack on AI features, including frontend, backend, and interactions with LLM and ML models.

Location within Pacific, Mountain, or Central time zone.

Familiarity with our tech stack is preferred, including React, TypeScript, NodeJS, Azure and SQL.
