$150K–$190K base + 0.25–1% equity. Willing to stretch for the right person.
We are looking for a Product Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to join River as the first engineering hire outside the founding team. You'll build the AI voice agents that run live B2B sales calls — from backend services to browser-use demos — shipping to production weekly and working directly with the founders at a company that just turned on revenue and is scaling fast.
What will you be doing?
Building backend services and APIs behind live AI sales calls (session state, integrations, data pipelines)
Developing the browser-use agent that navigates and demos real products live while the AI talks to prospects
Working directly with design partners to shape the product — understanding their needs and building custom solutions that feed back into core product
Building LLM-powered workflows: prompts, tool use, and agentic flows the agent follows during live demos
Shipping UI in Next.js/React where needed, watching real calls, and iterating fast
Key Requirements
2-5 years of professional software engineering experience with shipped production software
Strong TypeScript/JavaScript skills, particularly on the backend (Node.js, Next.js, Postgres)
Hands-on experience building with LLMs or real-time applications
High ownership mindset — can independently find problems, make decisions, and ship without hand-holding
Must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City (in-office role)
River builds AI voice agents that serve as full-cycle B2B SaaS sellers, capable of qualifying prospects, answering complex questions, demoing products live in a browser, and following up until deals close — all available 24/7. Founded by serial entrepreneurs who previously sold their first company, River just closed a $2M pre-seed backed by the founders of Ramp, Kalshi, JumpCloud, and other unicorn founders, along with institutional money from Shuruk. The company turned on revenue recently and scaled from $4,000 to $50,000 in weekly revenue within days of launch, with far more demand than they can currently serve. River's core belief is that 60–80% of B2B software sales will be agent-led within the next few years, and they are racing to build the definitive platform for this shift. The culture is fast-moving, high-ownership, and startup-native — the team values builders who are AI-native, opinionated, and ready to shape the product alongside design partners rather than execute on handed-down tickets.

River is a small, founder-led team built by serial entrepreneurs who sold their first company and are now leveraging their network and experience to build their next venture. The founders — Sam and Tarek Abillama — split time between London and New York and are relocating to New York full-time. The culture prizes speed, ownership, and AI-native thinking. They want teammates who embrace being individual contributors, who can make decisions independently without a PM layer, and who are excited by equity and the ride rather than stability and perks. The team works like a much larger organization by leveraging AI tools extensively in their daily workflows, and they expect new hires to 100x their own output. They value people who have the mindset of a founder — opinionated, hands-on, and willing to shape the product directly with customers.
River's product is an AI voice agent purpose-built for B2B SaaS sales. The agent conducts real-time sales conversations with prospects — qualifying them, answering detailed product questions, and actually demoing the product live by controlling a browser while speaking. It handles the full sales cycle from initial outreach through follow-up until the deal closes, operating 24/7 without human intervention. The platform includes real-time voice capabilities built on WebRTC, browser-use technology that enables the agent to navigate complex product UIs during live demos, enrichment pipelines that personalize each conversation, and LLM-powered workflows that guide the agent through sales calls. River is building core IP technology, particularly around browser use, rather than simply orchestrating existing tools. The product is live and demo-able at rivergtm.com/start.
