About Fern
APIs underpin the internet but are still painful to work with. They are often untyped, unstandardized, and out-of-sync across multiple sources of truth.

Fern enables businesses to offer “Stripe-level” SDKs (client libraries) and Docs for their REST API. Inspired by internal tooling we saw at AWS and Palantir, we’re building Fern to let every engineering team offer easy-to-use and well-documented APIs.

Founded in 2022, we’re less than 20 people, building open source, and backed by YCombinator. We work together in our office in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY. Our customers include Cohere, ElevenLabs, Webflow, and Merge.dev.

The role
Work with a nimble team of engineers to build and scale backend services, maintain the leading developer SDKs in web3, and innovate on new blockchain protocols. You'll make key decisions on architecture, developer experience, and implementation of critical tools, services, and systems.

What a typical week might look like
Develop, maintain, and innovate on open source SDKs and blockchain protocols
Scale backend services and infrastructure that interface with the blockchain
Collaborate with the product and design teams to work on solutions to solve customer challenges, plan new features, and iterate from lessons learned
Communicate with our customers to assist in integrating thirdweb into their application or platform
Write documentation associated with developer-facing functions or APIs
What we're looking for
2+ years experience on a software development team for a product-focused web application
Experience and interest in blockchain development
Proven ability to take on complex, large-scale technical projects end-to-end in a team setting
Experience in Javascript web frameworks (React, Next.js), Typescript, or NodeJS
Experience in scaling backend services and infrastructure
Excited about working in a fast-paced, unstructured environment that prioritizes delivering impact and learning over process
Curious about technology outside of your direct expertise and have an appetite for learning
A self-starter in proposing and carrying out technical solutions to ambiguous business problems
Know when and how to make calculated tradeoffs to meet the needs of the customer and business
We will evaluate the candidate’s skillset and preferred team and company’s needs to place the candidate in the right team as needed.
